Centre for European Integration of the Belgrade Open School design and implement educational programs in the area of the European integration in order to adopt European standards and values in Serbia.
From the beginnings topics related to European integration were included in the lectures and debates in Educational programs of the Humanities and Economic disciplines of the Belgrade Open School, In the period of the of great civil protests in the spring of the 1997 the first systematic academic module in European Studies was organized for students of the Belgrade Open School. Cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia was crowned with mutual organization of three daily intensive courses on the different aspects of European integration in spring 1998. Lectures at those intensive courses were coming from European University Institute of Florence. That was the beginning of Centre for European Integration.
From the fall 2000 one semester module on European studies and studies of the immediate environment of Serbia (the Balkan) are further developed by becoming a one-year academic program of the European Union and the Balkans for 35 selected students.
After realization of numerous successful projects Program for European integration has been transformed, first in July 2003 at the Centre for European integration and American studies and afterward in Centre for European Integration and become a part of the organization structure of the Belgrade Open School.
