The Discussion Forum “ReEnergy – For Energy Sustainable Local Communities” was realized

Centre for European Integration of Belgrade Open School and Friedrich Ebert Foundation have organized Discussion Forum “ReEnergy – For Energy Sustainable Local Communities” on 27th of November 2012 in National Assembly Green Salon.

Why does Serbia need new energy policy? What is the future of energy policy and use of renewable sources in Serbia? Why is energy planning a key element of local communities’ development? These are just some of the issues which were considered at Discussion Forum.

During the Forum, collection of papers “Sustainable energy management on local level” was also presented, as a result of “ReEnergy – For Energy Sustainable Local Communities” project which had for its main goal to examine the existing condition of efficient use of natural resources in Serbia and possibilities for developing active and suitable response of local communities, based on Covenant of Mayors experience and practice. Discussion Forum is final activity on “ReEnergy – For Energy Sustainable Local Communities” project which had for its main goals to: introduce all project participants, as well as all stakeholders interested in dealing with energy issues on local level (representatives of local self-government, civil society organizations and media) with EU policy framework for efficient use of energy; to develop policy framework for energy management on local level by using model of Sustainable energy action plan, developed by Covenant of Mayors; to present duties that comes out of EU accession process and energy sector implications in Serbia, as well.
