The Consultative Meeting was held in Uzice


The Consultative Meeting “Towards more responsible and transparent process of programming and using municipality environmental funds” was held on 28th of November in Užice. This Consultative Meeting was a joint initiative within two projects implemented by Belgrade Open School: “Know How 2 Act” and “Local Communities in European Integration Process - To Sustainable Model of Civil Inolvement in Creating Environment Policy”.

The meeting speakers were following persons: Mirko Popović (Centre for European Integration of Belgrade Open School) who has presented Project activities, Ljubinka Kaluđerović (Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities) who has spoken of municipality environmental funds management and public participation in using funds monitoring process, Miladin Pećinar (Local Užice Ecology Fund) who has presented the basic concept of Local Užice Ecology Fund functioning, its activities, goals, available funds, as well as its previous results, Srđan Matović (“Arhus Centre”, Kragujevac) who has presented making decision models for establishing Green Councils and Slobodan Ocokoljić (Centre for European Integration of Belgrade Open School) who has presented model of consultative working groups for improving environment on local level and research regarding this topic, as well.

During the meeting there was a live discussion regarding municipality environmental funds management and regarding proposed model of consultative working groups for improving environment on local level. Civil society organizations and municipality representatives from Arilje, Čajetina, Priboj, Užice and other Zlatibor district municipalities have expressed their remarks, observations and practical experience regarding this issue. The overall discussion had for its goal to improve presented models and to give solutions for functional consultative groups.

At this constructive meeting, participants have also looked for answers on all dilemmas regarding procedures, rights and duties deriving out of existing legal solutions and already established civil engagement model in making decision process.
