The Round Table on Improving Environmental Policy has been held
The round table on improving environmental policy in Republic of Serbia through strengthening civil society, local self-government and economy sector was held on 24th of January 2013 in National Assembly premises. The discussion was organized as a final activity on “Know How to Act” project supported by Royal Embassy of Norway within “Strengthening Civil Society”.
At the beginning of the event, the participants were greeted by Milica Vojic Markovic, chairperson of the Environmental Protection Committee of National Assembly of Republic of Serbia and Roger Jorgensen, Deputy Ambassador of Kingdom of Norway in Republic of Serbia.
The Project team representatives have presented the most significant results of the Project to the participants. The results of conducted research on local self-government capacities and civil society organizations in implementing European environmental standards have been presented, as well.
One part of the discussion was about issue of problem of environmental funding on local level, forming consultative working groups for improving environment, the position of economy sector regarding new legal framework on environmental funding and improving energy policy on local level through partnership of public authorities and civil sector.
The round table was finalized with a discussion of EU environmental funds on local level. After the event, a cocktail reception was organized.
