First Consultative Workshop “Approaching Europe – Contribution of CSO for Promotion of European Values in Belgrade”

Centre for European Integration (CEI) of Belgrade Open School (BOS) and Agency for European Integration and Cooperation with Civil Society of City of Belgrade have organized first Consultative workshop “Improving Cooperation and Strengthening Communication with Civil Society Organizations and Local Self-Governments” on Friday, 31st of May 2013 in great hall of Municipal Assembly of Stari Grad. Workshop was organized as a side programme of Fifth Civil Society Organizations Fair in Belgrade.

On consultative workshop panel, Snezana Radovanovic from “Kreativa plus” organization has presented OBOD Initiative – objectives and activities of civil society organizations (CSOs) group from Belgrade suburban municipalities, as well as the ways of cooperation with local self-government and other stakeholders. Slobodan Ocokoljic, researcher in Centre for European Integration of BOS and Goran Sehovic, deputy director of Agency for European Integration and Cooperation with Civil Society of City of Belgrade have presented research findings conducted within the Project. They have also presented different ways of cooperation between CSOs and local self-government in City of Belgrade, as well as problems and challenges CSOs are dealing with during the application procedure when submitting project proposal to the City authorities and to the City municipalities.

During the Consultative workshop the issue of low inclusion of civil society in decision making process and implementing European standards on local level were also talked about, as well as specific measures to deal with them.

Consultative workshop was implemented within the project “Approaching Europe – Contribution of Civil Society Organization for Promotion of European Values in Belgrade” supported by Agency for European Integration and Cooperation with Civil Society of City of Belgrade.
