Participants of the educational programme "ReEnergy" visited Republic of Croatia
In the framework of the initiative “ReEnergy”, from 14th to 16th of October 2014 was organized a study visit to the Republic of Croatia. Participants of the study visit had an opportunity to have an insight into examples of good practices and experiences of the representatives of business organizations, CSOs and units of local self-governments in Croatia regarding the improvement of energy efficiency in local communities.
During the visit to the company “EcoConsult” („EkoKonsalt“), participants were introduced with its activities in the area of the Western Balkans regarding introduction of facilities which use energy produced from biomass.
Participants had as well an opportunity to visit Regional Development Agency of the Northwestern Croatia, where they had a presentation of the Agency’s activities when it comes to the promotion and influence of the regional sustainable development. Additionally, participants were introduced with the future projects of the Agency, where the most significant one is the project of energetic recovery of the Downtown in Zagreb.
During the second day, participants visited United Nations Development Office in the Republic of Croatia. In the framework of this visit, participants attended presentation in the field of energy efficiency and sustainable development, with an accent on projects which deal with the encouragement of energy efficiency in Croatia and promotion of green public procurement as a support to achievement of the European Union 2020 Strategy goals.
Besides business organizations and CSOs in Zagreb, participants visited units of local self-governments Ivanić Town and the Town of Koprivnica which achieved significant results in the field of energy efficiency and sustainable development. In the Ivanić Town participants had a presentation of the project which deals with constructing energy efficient buildings in the housing complex “Poljana”. During the visit to Koprivnica, participants were introduced with several conducted activities of local self-government: system of electric cars and electric cars power supply system, the system of public bicycles, construction of energy efficient housing complexes, city dump and facility for wastewater treatment.
Study visit was conducted with an aim to contribute to the improvement of cooperation and exchange of knowledge with potential partners from the Western Balkans. Additionally, during the study visit participants had an opportunity to learn more about good practices, experiences of their colleagues from Croatia and funds which require regional partnerships.
