The European Union in My Community – effective and rational local development policies in the European integration process

The European Union in My Community – effective and rational local development policies in the European integration process

The Centre for European Integration (CEI) at Belgrade Open School (BOS), in cooperation with the Foundation for an Open Society in Serbia, is organising training for sixty representatives from civil society organizations from twenty-seven local governments in Serbia.  This training forms part of the project “The European Union in my community – effective and rational local development policies in the European integration process”.

The project has the following aims:

  • to promote and stimulate cross-sector partnerships in the creation and implementation of local development policies in the European integration process;
  • training representatives from civil society to act at local and regional levels, whilst enabling participants to recognise problems of a local or regional character and carry out  activities which will solve these problems and further promote European integration;
  • strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to follow the European integration process in local governments in the Republic of Serbia;
  • adding to and improving already existing knowledge and skills of the representatives from civil society linked to the following areas: regional cooperation, European Union programmes and funds which exist at the disposal of local governments of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2007-13, and
  • continuation of the process networking representatives from civil society organisations in promoting activities of a regional character in the European integration process.

These project aims will be accomplished through the following activities:

1)     The educational programmes “Partners for European integration in the local community” and “European integration and  local development policies in Serbia”

2)     The web portal “Together for the EU”
