Conference on "Cross-border cooperation in the process of European integration"
The conference was intended for deputies (member of the Parliament) of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia with the idea to become more familiar with the concept, instruments and actors of cross-border cooperation in the process of European integration. Representatives of the Delegation of European Union in Serbia, Serbian European Integration Office, European Movement in Serbia, as well as Center for European integration of Belgrade Open School presented the deputies in discussion panel mutual benefits of cross-border cooperation which promotes enhanced cooperation and the progressive economic integration between EU and candidate/potential candidate countries. The main objectives of the cross border cooperation are also presented to members of the discussion panel (combining the objectives of Cohesion Policy of the EU with the aims of the Policy of External Cooperation taking into the consideration the specific, unique needs of cross border region of the Republic of Serbia).
Trough the discussion panel had also been presented the concrete, realized projects from previous Programs of Cross Border Cooperation, with the special emphasis on those who - for their main aim - have development of cross border economic, social and environmental activities in cross border regions; projects which aim is to solve the mutual challenges in the areas such as environment, public health, prevention and fight against organized crime, as well as promoting legal and administrative cooperation and people to people actions.
